Maui Activities
July 8, 2008
Maui is an island in Hawaii that’s becoming more and more popular each year. No wonder, it has a lot of activities and fun to offer and still the natural calm beauty is present everywhere you go. You might find that there are so many things to do that it’s almost hard to choose. I will here list some of the top activities for this island.
Maui offers many opportunities to go on cruises around the island. There are cruises that take you from the shore to different spots outside the island, with opportunities to do some snorkeling, swimming and sunbathing. It’s a great way to spend the day in a relaxed way and to enjoy the sunshine and some nice dining along the way. There are also shorter dining and cocktail cruises which gives you a great way to introduce the evening.
Other boat tours can offer whale watching, one of the most popular and amazing things you can do while at Maui. These rides start in the early morning or at sunset and take you to some spots where whales normally can be viewed. It’s quite a feeling when you’re getting close to such a magnificent animal as the whale. This two hour tour is a great way to start off your day or evening. You can also do some amazing snorkeling!

While at Maui you probably want to visit the Haleakala Crater which is an extinct volcano and that can be explored in many different ways. Why not get to know this beautiful area from the horse-back, and ride through the landscape in a serene, relaxed way? If you are on the more adventurous side, you might prefer to go on a mountain bike ride downhill the volcano; most surely an exciting experience.
Haleakala can also be explored by foot; there are guided tours and you’ll get to walk through underground passages with stalactites and other beautiful formations from the volcanic activity as well as exploring the outside scenery.
To get an eagle eye perspective on Haleakala and its surrounding area you might want to go hang-gliding above it. It’s available both for beginners and the more experienced hang-glider and an experience you most certainly won’t forget. For those less adventurous there are helicopter tours offered that takes you around the island, and gives you a great panoramic view of it.
Surfing is great at Maui, and you find beaches suitable for both the beginner and the advanced surfer. Honolua Bay is your best pick during winter months and Lahaina Harbor is great in the summer. In the hotels you can often find surfboards to rent and in the area around the beaches you can find beginners surf-courses.
These are some of the unlimited possibilities there are for activation during your stay at this beautiful island.

The Hawaiian islands all have a diverse thriving nature and many different habitats and ecosystems. The mountains and volcanoes hosts a large amount of waterfalls that offer recreational beauty for those visiting. If you are exploring Maui, there are some waterfalls that you don’t want to miss.
Blue Angels falls are situated on the east of Maui, and are one of the most popular and beautiful waterfall you can find in the state of Hawaii. To get to the falls you have to make a small hike off the end of Ula’ino Road. Well there you can enjoy a swim in the clear and fresh water surrounded by the rainforest that’s filled with wildlife and natural flora.
The Waimuko falls in the southeast of Maui is a great hike and offers you a close contact with nature. You follow the Pipiwai Stream at a trail for about 2miles with a gain of 650 feet in elevation. When you reach your destination you’re at a gigantic waterfall, dropping around 400 feet into a rocky pool.
Seven sacred pools is found just before the Pipiwai Trail to Waimuko falls. It’s also called ‘Ohe’o Gulch and is a series of lovely waterfalls and tranquil pools that lies close to the shoreline. It’s part of the Haleakala National Park and is a popular spot for tourists to visit and enjoy playing and swimming in the pools.
Makapipi falls is one of the most stunning sights at Maui. It’s located just below the Hana Highway, as the bridge crosses the Makapipi Stream. If you lean over the railing you will see the stream fall down into the chrystal blue pool below.
Maui offers a great variety of gorgeous waterfalls and many of them are really easy to access. Along the Hana Highway there are actually many waterfalls situated and while driving around you can easily get to see quite a lot of them just next to the road. So an easy way to explore Maui’s waterfalls is to take a day and drive around and you will have the opportunity to visit many of them. Enjoy the freshness of sparkling crystal clear water!
